In this episode of The Husband Did It, Lindsay and Mark take a deep dive into the haunting 1987 disappearance of Christi Jo Nichols.

Christi Jo, a 22-year-old devoted mother of two from the quiet town of Gothenburg, Nebraska, vanished on or around December 11, 1987. Married at just 19, she left behind a life that seemed ordinary on the surface—until it wasn’t. Her case was later featured on Unsolved Mysteries and remains an open homicide investigation. No body has ever been found, and no charges have been filed.

The primary and only named suspect is her husband, Mark Nichols, then 24. Investigators pointed to substantial circumstantial evidence: blood discovered in the family home and in Mark’s car, inconsistent statements, and his suspicious behavior in the days and weeks after Christi vanished.

Lindsay and Mark unpack the evidence, the timeline, the small-town dynamics, and the questions that still linger nearly four decades later.
